Westchester County Mom Groups and Meetups

As a Tarrytown orthodontist and pediatric dentist, one of the things we like the most is getting to know our patients and their families. In doing so, we chat with a lot of moms who are either bringing their kids or teens in for treatment or straightening their teeth themselves. The doctors and our team appreciate how much works goes into raising children and we know it’s super important to have support, resources and fun while doing it! Luckily, there are plenty of local mom bloggers, mom meetups and mom groups in Westchester County, NY for you to turn to. We’re sharing some of our favorites.

NY Mom Blogs

Emma WestchesterEmma Westchester isn’t actually a person. It’s a fictional character based on Westchester County, NY mom bloggers Shawna Lubner and Erin Baker. The women, along with guest bloggers, share local kid-friendly events, as well as recipes, upcoming sales, restaurant reviews, product suggestions, fashion inspiration and much more. It’s a well-rounded lifestyle blog for NY parents.

Mommy Poppins – There is a local Mommy Poppins for Westchester and it’s your source of all the best things to do with kids in Westchester County. You’ll find guides to camps, classes, family activities, birthday party spots and everything you can imagine and you’re able to search by age and area. Mommy Poppins is truly an amazing resource for families.

Cuddles and Chaos – NY mom blogger Jen resides in Westchester and keeps it real when it comes to her take on parenting on her blog Cuddles and Chaos. She writes about all things motherhood and she’s refreshingly honest and funny. In addition to personal essays that delve into the realities of parenting tiny humans, she also shares fun ideas for DIY projects and crafts, home décor, gifts, saving money and more.

Wee WestchesterWee Westchester is one of the best NY parenting blogs around and it’s another great resource for anyone with kids in Westchester County. Local moms Elizabeth Detmer, Nancy Fann-Im and Brooke Lea Foster run the blog and give readers the scoop on the best places to eat, hang out, shop and entertain kids in the area. As a bonus, they cover style and travel too. If you want to find out what’s going on for any given day, use the handy events calendar.

Westchester County Moms Blog – Westchester County Moms Blog is run by a team of local moms who are passionate about the area and connecting with other moms. You’ll find information about local events, essays on parenting, posts on a variety of topics, reviews and more. The blog also has a comprehensive collection of local resources that run the gamut from guides on the best date night spots to summer camps.

BabyGotChat – Local NY mom bloggers Andrea Worthington and Rosalind Batheja are behind BabyGotChat, a parenting blog that covers all things Westchester County. In addition to posts about the latest and greatest in the area, they also keep lists of classes and events and recommendations for things like daycare and healthcare.

Westchester County Mom Groups and Meetups

Westchester NY Moms – Westchester NY Moms isn’t your typical mom group in Westchester County, NY. It’s a community of over 10,000 local moms that connect both online and in person. Think of it as a hybrid mom blog, mom group and mom meetup. Join their Facebook group to chat with other moms, get support and share ideas. Or, browse the blog or directory to find resources and information. Want to make friendships face to face? Check out the list of play groups, community events and mommy and me classes.

New Mom’s Meet-Up & Support Group – This Westchester County mom meetup is a group for new moms with babies ages birth through 12 months. Each week, members meet at the organizer’s home in Tuckahoe, NY to chat about topics, including feeding, sleeping and self-care.

Stroller Strides –  Fit4Mom Westchester offers a variety of Westchester County mom meetups in the form of workout classes (the first class is free to try). For something really local, attend Stroller Strides or Stroller Barre at Pierson Park in Tarrytown. During the stroller-based classes, you’ll get fit with other moms and spend time in the fresh air with your baby.

MOPS Westchester – MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a mom group in Westchester County, NY – well, it’s actually national but there’s a Westchester chapter. The group is aimed at meeting the needs of moms with little ones birth through kindergarten. The local group meets at the Bedford Community Church (160 Bedford Center Road, Bedford Hills, NY) on the first Thursday of the month from September to June from 9:30 to 11:45am. Every month, there is a speaker who talks about different aspects of motherhood and parenting. Then, there’s discussions in small groups and, sometimes, a creative activity. Childcare is provided and while moms are meeting, kids are grouped by age and get to play and do crafts together.

Storytimes at the Warner Library – The Warner Library in Tarrytown isn’t technically one of the Westchester County mom groups or mom meetups but there are a variety of regular storytimes. Moms and dads can bond with their children and each other in a relaxed group setting. Some popular programs include Stories & Songs on Mondays at 4pm for caregivers and tots ages two-and-a-half and up, Bond with Books and More on Tuesdays at 11:30am for babies who aren’t walking yet and their caregivers and Cuentos y Canciones on Fridays at 10:30am for parents and kids of all ages.

We hope you found our guide helpful! If, in between reading blogs and meeting fellow moms you’re interested in dental care for your young ones, or aligners or braces for yourself or your child, book a consultation at 914 Smiles Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry.
